This was an easy cozy mystery for me. This is my first book by this author, and I really enjoyed her writing style. I also really enjoyed the narrator – another first time narrator for me. I already have book 2 and hope to get to it soon.
Pepper is a small business owner of a spice shop. Pepper was a strong heroine but the execution was often missed. The book was actually set in Seattle, WA in a famous public market. I found this a little odd since the market is an actual place. I did enjoy the detail regarding the market from the author.
Although the mystery surrounded Pepper, supporting characters who worked at her shop were also front and center. The crime actually takes place in her shop door, and the victim was still holding one of her tea cups. This was an easy to solve mystery – no twists and turns. However, this reader, found the reading to be enjoyable without the guesswork that normally involves a good who done it.
