While this was not my favorite (or even close) Rock Chick installment, I found myself rooting for Mace and Stella. So far, this is the first book where the leading woman was not all over the leading man. Stella was also a Rock Chick since the girls inducted her into their “club” due to Mace. I had been looking forward to Mace’s story for a long time. Years ago, Mace had witnessed the murder of his sister. After seeking revenge, he joins the Nightingale team. Mace broke up with Stella for reasons unknown. Stella assumes that the breakup was due to Mace always getting her band members out of sticky situations.
After only being together for four months, Stella was devastated when Mace walked out on her. Determined to mend her broken heart, Stella swears off all men, especially Mace. Unfortunately, all of the Rock Chicks now have a price on their head including Stella. When Mace sees Stella being shot at, he vows this time will be different, and he will protect her. All Stella wants to do is run as fast as she can in the opposite direction. This book included angst, sadness, and recovery. Perhaps, this is why I didn’t enjoy this one like the others. I am glad that in the end both Stella and Mace got their HEA.
I so enjoy the series overall!
